7 Unusual Ways Facebook Ads can Grow Your Business

Facebook advertising has been a true game changer for small businesses, mine included.

In the past, you’d have to pay high fees to promote your products and services to the masses on TV, radio and other traditional media channels.

Small Businesses really struggled to compete with big businesses and their big advertising budgets.

That’s no longer the case. For as little as $5 a day, you can advertise your products and services to YOUR target market (without wasting your budget on everyone else) , measure your return on investment and grow your business exponentially.

Today I want to share with you 7 different ways you can take advantage of Facebook (and Instagram) advertising to grow your business, that you may not have thought about before.

1- Increase your website conversion rates

Did you know that only 3% of people landing on your website is ready to buy right now? And from this 3%, not everyone will choose to buy from you.

Conversion rate is the percentage of people that convert (inquire, buy, contact you or subscribe) when visiting your website. So, If you have 1000 visitors per week, and 30 people subscribe or inquire, your conversion rate is 3%.

Indeed, website conversion rates for first time visitors are very low, even if your website is designed for high conversions, which is not everyone’s case.

But here’s a little trick. You can increase your website conversion rates by installing a little piece of code, called the Facebook pixel, and use the pixel to track everyone who visited your website and bring them back by advertising to them.

You can advertise your products or services, or a blog article or video that interest them. By doing so you won't lose 97% of your traffic. It would be a waste!

2- Support your email campaigns

You might have heard the term “the money is on the list”? I wouldn’t argue with that. An engaged email list can certainly help you increase your sales.

In fact, of all digital marketing methods, e-mail is still the highest converting marketing strategy.

Yet, usually less than 30% of your entire email list will open your emails, and less than 5% will click on any links.

What you can do to increase your sales is to promote your products and services to your email subscribers through Facebook advertising.

Why would you do that? You ask! Because your subscribers already know who you are, and are therefore more likely to buy from you.

People need several touch points before they buy. By advertising to your subscribers you will remind them about your offers, reinforce the message and stay front of mind.

3- Grow your email list

Facebook advertising doesn't only allow you to target your email list, it also helps you build a targeted database of prospect interested in what you sell.

Your e-mail list is an asset to your business and growing it should be a priority.

Opposite to social media, which keeps changing the algorithm all the time, you have much more control over your list.

No one will tell you what you can send to them, how often you can e-mail, which images to use, etc.

You just need to keep it "healthy" to stay out of the spam folder and communicate with your most engaged subscribers.

With Facebook sophisticated targeting capabilities, it’s easy to promote your freebies or your content to your target audience and build your email list high quality leads.

Don’t tell me you’ve never subscribed to freebies or discounts you saw on Facebook? I most certainly have.

4- Stay Front of Mind

A great way to stay front of mind and build a relationship with your audience is by advertising to the same people repeatedly.

Once upon a time, businesses used to do this by posting organically on their Facebook page.

But with the ever-changing algorithm, a very small portion of your followers now see your content organically, and the rest will forget about you, unless you pay for advertising.

Out of sight, out of mind.

After all the effort you went through to gain followers, why should you disappear and let them forget you? That's what happens if you only use social media organically. Most of your followers don't ever see you.

5- Decrease Abandoned Cart Rates (Increase Sales)

Who haven’t left items in an online cart because of a screaming child, a knock on the door, a beep on your phone or [insert another reason here] and forgot to complete the purchase? I most certainly have. Many times.

Did you know that up to 70% of people abandon cart before completing their purchase? Yes, ouch!

That means that 70% of your sales have been lost. Well, almost lost…

With your Facebook pixels installed, you can remind your customers to finalize their purchase via retargeting advertising. This will increase your sales, guaranteed.

If you’ve ever been followed around the internet by a product your forgot to buy, you know what I’m talking about.

Oh, and this is just as valid for service providers, not just e-commerce.

6- Market Research

Yes, you read that right. When we talk about Facebook ads, most people think about sales.

Ultimately, that’s the goal. But Facebook can also provide important data and insights into your market.

If you’re running campaigns, take a moment to look at your reports and analyse your results.

What’s the data telling you? Who’s responding to your ads? Which image and copy are resonating best with your audience?

Are people clicking but not buying? Does this mean your website needs improvement, rather than your ads?

You see, if you look at your campaign data critically, you will soon find out a lot of information about your market, who they are and what they respond to. Not just that, you will also find out what you need to improve in your own business.

What you will discover might be unexpected, but valuable. Use the information to refine your communications, your website, your landing pages, your offer, and your campaigns.

7- Customer Service

Sounds crazy? It isn't!

What if you need to deliver a message to a large group of customers? Are you going to call one by one? You could. But you could use advertising.

One of my clients did exactly that.

She had an important announcement to make, and wanted to explain to her customers why her Facebook group was closing, and how they could access the support she was providing through said group.
So, we ran an advertising campaign inviting her customers to a live webinar, so she could deliver the information and answer questions.

Surely, she used e-mail and other communication methods too. But as I've mentioned above, not everyone will open your emails or even answer their phones.

Another example is product recall. Whenever companies need to recall a product they use advertising to reach large numbers of customers.

That's part of a good customer service. It's up to you to communicate effectively with your customers. Amazingly enough, advertising can help.

I hope you found this helpful and discovered at least one thing you can implement in your business right now to help you grow.
